How to Paint: YELLOW CAT EYES with Oil Paint or Acrylic Paint

Video Transcript

Hey everyone

Welcome to another video!

Today I will be showing you how I paint luminous yellow cat eyes with oil paint.

But before we get started I just wanted to talk briefly about something new! As a companion to these quick tutorials on YouTube, I now offer fully detailed tutorials in the form of a pdf for a super affordable price! If you would like more guidance on these topics, and want more info on exact materials used, detailed techniques and paint mixing, you may want to check them out! The link to my website can be found in the description of this video.

Now lets get started!

Start off with your sketch, here I just free handed it onto my primed paper.

The next step is to work on the underpainting, mostly working wet-into-wet. I tend to make this step fairly monochromatic, and build up the colours afterwards with glazes.

Now that your underpainting is complete, let it dry completely. Working with smaller brushes now, work in those details.

And now for my favorite part - glazing! Mix up a variety of glazes using a medium such as Liquin by Winsor and Newton and some paint to add thin transparent washes of colour to your painting. Make sure the layers below are completely dry before doing this stage.

And we're done! Thank you guys so much for watching! If you have any questions, leave a comment down below! If you are interested in way more detail on how to paint yellow cat eyes like you see here, I highly recommend checking out the detailed guide mentioned earlier.

See you next time!
