Spring & Changes

Welcome to another month! I hope the weather is great in your corner of the globe - ours is beginning to shape up! Winter is slowly (very slowly) fading away, which means that our landscape will be dressing itself in green soon. My inspiration always fires up in the summer months, so prepare yourself for tons of new artwork!

After much thought, I have decided that I will be closing my Etsy shop over the course of the new few months. My years spent with Etsy have been great and fruitful, but I've decided that a better move is to operate entirely from my own website shop.

I've always loved working on projects. Taking a deep dive into a running theme or concept activates the brain, and forces it to think creatively.
Here are a few projects that I have had on my mind lately:
- A series of paintings revolving around Egyptian Gods
- teaching in-person art lessons
- a new colouring book
- a line of seasonal greeting cards

Let's see what I get around to working on in April!

March Highlights Top Left: Little work-in-progess of another barn owl commission. Now is the fun detail phase! Top Right: New painting "Nebula" - a godly heterochromic Great Horned Owl Bottom Left: I closed my commissions for a long time, but I recently decided to take a few to throw something different into my art game. This lovely pup is almost completed, just a few more glaze layers to pull everything together. Bottom Right: Did you know that I have a Youtube channel? I upload timelapse videos and tutorials! Why do I paint?

Some paint to release the thoughts in their heads and give them a physical form. Some paint for therapy, as a way to breathe their way into calmness by breathing life onto a canvas. Some paint to support themselves and their lives. Some paint because it brings them joy.

I paint for all of these reasons, and the main focus shifts from day to day. Some days require the solitude of the studio to bring me back to calmness, other days the paint is an extension of my mind, bursting forwards and begging to be realized.

And yes, some days are so I can pay my bills.
But that’s the beauty of it all, the need to create transcends one definitive reason.
